Attention Graduating 3L and 4Es!

1) On-Campus Fingerprinting for the Bar:
The National Background Security Services, Inc. ("NBSS") will be on campus during the following dates and times to give graduating students a convenient way to complete the Bar’s fingerprinting requirement. Fingerprinting will take place on the first floor of Founder’s Hall on:

Tue. - 9/8 (9am-7pm)
Wed. - 9/9 (9am-3pm)
Thur. – 9/10 (12pm-7pm)
Tue. - 9/22 (10am-3pm)
Wed. - 9/23 (10am-3pm)

The price is $21 for your fingerprints, and an optional $8 for a previous address search. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Please bring a form of identification.

**IMPORTANT NOTE**: Your Moral Character Application must be submitted within 90 days of your fingerprints.

Please direct all questions to NBSS's Frank Devenport at (714) 843-9504.

2) Application for Determination of Moral Character
The State Bar of California requires all Bar applicants to complete the Application for Determination of Moral Character prior to being admitted to practicing law. The determination process can take as long as 10 months, so YOU WANT TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Once the determination is made, it is valid for 24 months. The application requires you to provide extensive information about past residences and past employment, so students are encouraged to begin collecting this data now.

Application forms and other information are available at: California Bar Exam & Admissions - Moral Character.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have any question about something in your past that you may have to disclose on the Moral Character form, please contact the State Bar of California directly.

Newest Additions to DSBA!

Hello Loyolan's!
Please join me in congratulating our new DSBA Representatives. They are the final additions to the 2009-2010 DSBA Board, are overly qualified for their positions, and are:
1L Reps:
Section 1: Puneet Toor
Section 2: Paul Seo
Section 3: Alexander Weisbecker
Section 4: Jay Strozdas
2L Reps:
Gold: Vickie Chan
Goldman: Renee Pratt
Cammack: Liz Treckler
Also, I would like to give a special thanks to all who ran for positions. It takes a lot of courage and passion to get up in front of 80 people you've only known for 2 weeks and give a speech. You all should be very proud of yourselves.
I look forward to seeing you all at Turf Club today at 4pm!

~ Omid Haghighat, your DSBA Vice President

First Turf Club of the Year! Thursday, 8/27/09 @ 5:00PM

UPDATE: I'm happy to announce that Turf Club will be moved up an hour and now use the following schedule:
  • Alcohol will be poured from 4:00PM-6:00PM
  • Tacos will be stuffed beginning at 4:30PM
Evening student food priority will begin at 5:00PM with green wristbands. Please plan accordingly!

Loyola,

Come join SBA, LLS Democrats, and Black Law Students Association as we host the year's First Turf Club!

For those new to Loyola, Turf Club is [arguably] the best monthly event on campus. Held on the last Thursday of every month, Turf Club brings students and professors together over free food, free beer and free wine.

This Thursday's Turf Club will feature delicious tacos from El Taco Man. So head on over to the basketball courts beginning at 5:00PM to get your tacos!

Evening students, be sure to find your Section Representative to obtain a wristband for priority access to food.

Hope to see you all there!

Internet Troubles on Campus

UPDATE 2: Ok Facebook is back and not a moment to soon. I was about to reactivate my myspace account....

UPDATE: It looks like we're getting conflicting messages from the administration. That combined with the fact that Facebook wont load at all means that the jury is still out on this one. Stay tuned...

Not to worry Loyolans,

Due to some issues with the internet on campus today rumors have been flying around that Loyola is blocking Facebook.

SBA has spoken with IT and it turns out that outgoing traffic is overwhelming the servers and things should be back to normal soon.

And not a moment to soon...

Club Day and IOC!

Loyolans,

Welcome back/to school!
Student Organizations will be gathering on the Basketball Court this Thursday, August 20th from 4-6 PM sharing information and hopefully some good food and candy. This is the best opportunity of the school year to learn about campus activities and how to get involved.

The Inter Organizational Council (IOC) will also meet this Wednesday, August 19th from 5-6 PM in B-206 and will be holding elections for an IOC representative to the Student Bar Association. Those interested in becoming candidates for the IOC should email seth.weiner@lls.edu, and be available to attend Wednesday's meeting.

See you soon!
